Projects we support
We occasionally help external projects practically. Here's the full list.
Promoted by Welland Valley Rail Partnership
Welland Valley Rail
Welland Valley Rail is a 'Beeching Reverse' project that aims to reconnect the communities of Kettering, Corby, Stamford and Peterborough, as well as Luffenham, Whittlesey, March & Wisbech back together with a green railway line.
Most of the route is covered by existing freight lines, so there is only a small gap to fill in (near Marton) to enable speedy passenger services to flow between all our communities.
Welland Valley Rail Partnership propose an hourly service from Kettering, through Corby, a new local station at Luffenham, Stamford, Peterborough, Whittlesey, March with the final call being the soon to be rebuilt station at Wisbech.
Promoted by Brackmills BID
This campaign is operated by Brackmills BID. The concept is to introduce an active "Green Corridor" between Northampton's city centre/railway station to the busy industrial park of Brackmills - the largest in the city.
The project would be phased in, starting with an active travel (walking and cycling) corridor, and eventually restoring the former alignment as Light Rail, with numerous stops en-route at places such as the University campus, Delapre Abbey, and Nene Valley Retail Park.
West Northamptonshire Council supports the project.
